THE ELIMINATION OF GAS FLARING IN A PRODUCTION FACILITY DUE TO THE INSTALLATION OF A VAPOR RECOVERY UNIT (VRU)

Tobore Gbemre
Pan Ocean Oil Corporation (Nigeria) Limited
- Instead of exporting only the high-pressure gas and flaring the low-pressure gas, the Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) compresses the low-pressure gas to meet the inlet of the Export Gas Compressor
- This ensures increased gas utilization, which translates into more revenue for the Organization
- Flare out is then achieved, which leads to the non-payment of Fines and Penalties arising from gas flaring
- This was achieved in Pan Ocean’s OML147 Obi Anyinma Flowstation, and this was commended by the NUPRC (Regulators)
